for the “second serving” event, twenty guests were invited to participate in collaboratively assembling canapés. each guest was provided with a unique custom-made wooden serving salver and encouraged to produce an visual composition that presented the ingredients they stacked.

 after recording their aesthetic arrangements at a photo booth, guests were invited to mingle with the intention of finding the other guest with the matching board. once the pair of guests had found one another, they shared ingredients to create new compositions.

after a second round of photography for their combined arrangements, both guests sit across from another at a long table to share the meal they produced together. as the meal continues, they are welcome to combine their trays with others guests to share food and conversation.
